Health worker tests positive for Covid-19 at Gamalakhe CHC

Services have been temporarily suspended to allow for the premises to be deep cleaned and disinfected.

The Department of Heath has confirmed that a health worker at the Gamalakhe Community Health Centre has tested positive for Covid-19.

“Services at the centre were suspended yesterday (Monday) and today in order for the premises to be deep cleaned and disinfected, in line with Infection Control and Prevention guidelines from the World Health Organisation,” said Department of Health spokesman, Ntokozo Maphisa.

“Alternative arrangements have been made for the collection of chronic medication from a different part of the hospital, as well as the diversion of patients with health emergencies to other healthcare facilities within the district,” he added.
