Swiss surprise for Southbroom

It’s time for club champs at Southbroom Golf Club this coming weekend, with Gavin Sole aiming for nine in a row.

The course is looking great and golfers will hope the weather is ideal for tournament play.

In last week Wednesday’s competition the winners were Lorraine Cook and Rene Matthew on 45 points, counting out Heather Anderson and Anita Landolf.

In third place on 42 points were Candida Amm and Janet Humphrey.

The men’s competition was won on 46 points by Geoff Skelton and Gary Lig, by two from Gerald FitzGerald and Paul Cole.

In third place were Colin McKay and Gavin Sole on 44 points.

The Mulligans Alliance last Friday was won on 90 points by Anita Landolf, Regina Bosshart, Shelly Myers and Heather Anderson.

One point behind were Chris and Alexandra Huber, Hanna and Emil Hierhold.

The Swiss Day Alliance last Saturday was a huge hit, and won by Heather Anderson, Sandy FitzGerald, Eli Bachman and Di Morris on 92 points.

Five points behind were Karin Schmidt, Margaret Stoellinger, Glynis Hutton and Alice Schrader, with third spot going to Seline Matzinger, Louise Leal, Irene Schanda and ghost on 84 points.

In the men’s alliance, winners were Chris Miller, Jim Cook, Olliver Ransome and John Fox on 93 points.

Runners-up were Werner Duggan, Chris Huber, Jurg Landolf and Stephen Egbert on 89 points, counting out Uli Matzinger, Ralph Probst, Andy Bossard and a ghost.

Chicken Run: Nic van Deventer 21 pts, Grant Morris 19 pts, Graham Sole 18 pts.
