KidzGolf kicks off for 2020

Golf equipment is provided, although kids with their own clubs are welcome to bring them along.

IT was wonderful to see so many keen youngsters (and their parents) at the club for KidzGolf last Saturday.

The 2020 season started last week but interested individuals are still welcome to join.

EGTF certified golf teacher Devlyn Fraser has been offering kids lessons for nearly 20 years and was thrilled with the large turnout, saying “it was lovely to see so many young families interested in the game”.

KidzGolf takes place on Saturdays, during school term, from 8am to 9am.

Open to all local boys and girls between 5 and 18 years old, KidzGolfers need only be neatly dressed, with takkies and socks and armed with sunscreen and a hat.

Golf equipment is provided, although kids with their own clubs are welcome to bring them along.

Run to assist in developing the game, KidzGolf is offered at no cost for UGC members’ children or grandchildren.

Non-members are also very welcome and a nominal annual registration fee of just R200 per child is applicable.

KidzGolfers under 10 years old require a parent to remain for the lesson.

The club offers catering services so why not enjoy a delicious breakfast or coffee on the veranda whilst you wait?

There was a wonderful turnout for the first KidzGolfers session at Umkomaas Golf Club for 2020.

With many of the members committed to Industrial League, Saturday’s Waltzing Alliance field was rather small.

First place on 87 points were Barrie Taylor, Graham Coxell, Dave Kemp and UK visitor, Derrick Richards.

Five points back, Bruce Sutcliffe, Kuben Naidoo and Russell and Evija Macelvey, came in second with 82 points.

The Wednesday IPS school was won by Graham Coxell on 39 points, followed by Harold Horsley on 36 points.

Next Saturday’s competition is Bonus Bogey and tee times are available by calling the pro shop at 039 9731042.
