The Bernadis twins and their cousins Noah and Damien, under the watchful eye of coach Oupa Willie O’Connell, are putting in the time to hone their games and improve their handicaps.

Our KidzGolf programme continues to encourage youngsters to take up the game and grateful thanks must go to Coach Dev who patiently guides them every Saturday morning.

Last weekend the KidzGolf prize-giving was held and big hitting Jayden Gildenhuys was awarded ‘Most Improved Golfer’ and we look forward to seeing him join in at 6-pin competitions soon.

The kiddies also enjoyed a lovely Christmas party, including a visit from Santa, hosted by the ladies section.

Last Wednesday’s competition was won on 37 points by Dave Kemp, one ahead of Chris Viljoen on 35 points.

Jayden Gildenhuys and coach Devlyn Fraser.

A total of 37 players braved the wind to compete in the last medal competition for 2019.

Scores were still good, despite the unusual winds for December, a testament to the glorious condition of the putting surfaces.

Kuben Naidoo’s nett 66 saw him claim the final Halfway Malanda Monthly Mug.

Barrie Taylor won the A division on 37 points, two ahead of Sabiha Bacaus.

Kuben Naidoo won the B division on 39 points, two ahead of Bruce Sutcliffe.

C division honours went to Willy Boucher on 34 points, by one from Ken Koster.

All monthly mug winners will have a chance to duke it out for Golfer of the Year in January 2020.

Those include Kuben Naidoo (2), Tom Naicker, Wally Kent, Natalie Singer, Barrie Taylor, Dave Kemp (2), Saga Reddy, Chris Pillay, Joe Mkhungo and Nelson Moonsamy.

There is still opportunity to join in the festive golf with the Christmas Alliance taking place this Saturday (14th) and the Turkey Trot (bonus bogey) next Monday (16th).

Tickets are also still available for the R10 000 draw – contact the pro shop.

Why not support the club and enter with the chance to take away the prizes?

Ticket holders and golfers are invited to join in the festivities on Saturday night as we enjoy some great live music and fun including then big draws.
