Tuning In: Get fresh vegetables delivered weekly

Boxes will be available at Impithi Beach Restaurant and the conservancy will be able to take orders and enquiries.

A reminder about the vegetable initiative: Pennington Conservancy has joined up with Dexter and Matu Zama Agricultural Academy to supply fresh organic vegetables to Impithi Beach Restaurant and local residents.

Customers pay a R100 refundable deposit and that gets them a surprisingly good-looking wooden box.

On one side of the box is a little blackboard area where the customer writes their name and boxes are then filled with fresh vegetables in season like onions, cabbage, spinach, beetroot, potatoes and anything else fresh and ready to eat.

A box of vegetables costs R50 and is delivered weekly so customers can bring their empty boxes back and receive a new box full of fresh vegetables each week.

Boxes will be available at Impithi Beach Restaurant and the conservancy will be able to take orders and enquiries.

Interest has been phenomenal and if you would like to be part of this wonderful initiative please give Impithi a call on 084 081 6990. Deliveries are scheduled to start in the third week of November.

Pet supply drive – our furry friends are important too – until November 30. All donations will be donated to 4 Paws and a Tail Rescue, as well as Serendipity Rescue.

Their needs are canned and dry food for both cats and dogs, ice-cream containers, tyre beds, blankets, toys, treats, hooves and flea and tick treatment.

Monetary donations are highly appreciated as well. All donations can be dropped off at Harcourts, 2 Margaret Avenue, Scottburgh, or contact Kiah Keet on 063 141 2990 to arrange collection and/or drop off.

The Sanctuary of the Great White Light, 9 Barrow Street will hold a Clairvoyant Day on November 9, from 9am – 2.30pm.

To make a booking, contact Gayle at 083 6545261.

The sanctuary celebrates 60 years in 2020 and Gayle Weston is looking for people who were at the opening of the sanctuary in 1960, or anyone who visited the sanctuary in those days.

If you are one of these special people, please write a small piece on the sanctuary and email it to gayleweston@gmail.com.

To pupils who are writing exams – wishing you all the best. It is a tough time, but it will be over soon – hang in there. To parents and teachers – you’ve got this. Not long now.

A very special event is going to be held in Pennington on December 7 involving cupcakes and children – watch this space.

Allison Sweet, Gill Young and I had the pleasure of judging the children’s Halloween costumes at the Doghouse last Saturday.

Names and photos will follow next week, but suffice to say that Batgirl and Robin were firm favourites.

Father Christmas will be visiting Penn Valley on Saturday, December 21, to hand out presents to all children who were good during the past year. Activities will include face-painting, tattoos, a jumping castle, slip and slide, to name a few. Final details will be posted once Father Christmas’s schedule has been received.
