Herald Fishing: Crayfish compo this Saturday

There will be some awsome prizes up for grabs and lucky draws as well.

Hibiscus Underwater Club, together with freedivers, is hosting its annual crayfish competition this Saturday (19th).

Weigh-in will be held at the Hibberdene Ski-boat Club at 1.30pm.

It will be followed by a bring-and-braai and prize giving.

There will be some awesome prizes up for grabs and lucky draws as well.

In regular fishing, some foul weather and heavy seas resulted in not seeing much fishing as would have been liked.

The good days were memorable, though.

Summer is here and as a result more and more summer fish are being caught along.

There have been videos and pictures of bent rods and screaming drags, so it is a great time to go for a throw.

Reports are in of a lot of garrick being on the run and caught all along the South Coast.

As the shad season is closed the best live bait for these magnificent fish are mullet and karanteen.

Bronze bream still on the bite and anglers have been landing some magnificent fish.

For the anglers targeting the inedible fish will surely be having a lot fun with the flat fish such as guitar fish, blue rays and diamond skates.

The arrival of the dorado signals the start of the summer gamefish season.

The freshwater scene has been dominated by carp and bass over the last week. With the waters warming, the bass have been on their game.

Trout are still feeding well but are being quite selective, just like the scalies.

Tight lines and screaming reels.
