Funds raised for Amy’s operation

Amy was born with a cleft lip and palate and will be undergoing a third operation.

Family and friends of Amy Frazer came together and held a fund-raiser at the Crusaders Wild Coast clubhouse last Saturday.

Activities included a braai, jumping castle, food stalls and plenty of prize giveaways.

Amy, now aged 14, was born with a cleft lip and palate and will be undergoing a third operation on October 1, where a bone graft will be done to close her hard palate.

Her mother, Chantell Frazer said the operation will be done in Pretoria with Amy expected to remain in hospital for three days. An additional two operations are required to complete the process.

“Amy had two operations before she was one year old. Her first operation was done when she was nine months old where they closed her lip and nose,” she explained.

Chantell said that the proceeds from the day would be used to cover Amy’s medical expenses, as their medical aid only covered 80 percent of the cost of the operation, and as her parents, they don’t have sufficient funds to cover the remaining 20 percent.
