Amazing turnout for Ashton

The drive was held to help Ashton Dry (11) from Port Edward, who has acute myeloid leukaemia.

Seventy-six people registered as blood stem cell donors at the Southcoast Mall last Saturday.

The drive was held to help Ashton Dry (11) from Port Edward, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in February this year, and others suffering from blood diseases.

Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer partnered with The Sunflower Fund in support of warriors like Ashton Dry, whose best chance of recovery is a life-saving blood stem cell transplant.

Xolani Hlongwane of The Sunflower Fund, said they had an excellent turnout from the South Coast community. “It was amazing to see how both locals and visitors to the coast arrived and patiently queued from start to finish to register,” he said.
