Business tips shared at Ugu South Coast Tourism information session

Presentations were made by various organisations and one-on-one consultations were offered with tourism officials.

Local businesses were given success tips at the Ugu South Coast Tourism information sharing session held recently at the Margate Hotel.

Tips from consumer protection services, tourism grading, environmental health, business funding and business licensing were shared by those in the know.

According to organisers, the session was aimed at ensuring sustainable development and growth of tourism enterprises in a way that facilitates inclusive participation, job creation and contributes to the competitiveness of the South Coast as a tourism destination.

Presentations were made by various organisations and one-on-one consultations were offered with tourism officials. During the presentations, grading incentives and benefits for establishments such as guest houses and bed and breakfasts were discussed.

Tourism representatives explained the benefits of being a member and how local businesses could become a part of Ugu South Coast Tourism while a representative from Ugu District Municipality shared the importance of compliance with health laws.

Ugu Tourism CEO Phelisa Mangcu explained that tourism requires effective partnerships among government, local communities and the private sector in order to thrive.

“In our capacity as destination managers, we are focused on collaborating with all of our tourism and business partners – enabling us to live up to these environmental, social and economic responsibilities,” she said.

She thanked all the stakeholders and businesses who were part of the information sharing session.

The day ended with a consultation process and a question and answer session.
