Superfit Mez conquers Three Cranes

The club has had a lot on the go of late.

MEZ Kennedy of Scottburgh Athletics Club recently took part in the Three Cranes Challenge in the Karkloof area.

It was a 92km three day trail running stage race, which consisted of 29km on the first day, 40km on the second day, and 23km on the final day.

Mez finished the event in 29th place overall in a field of 156 runners who took on the major challenge.

In other news, the club had a decent turn-out at the recent Deloitte Challenge marathon held from Ballito to Durban.

As many as 20 members took place, with Dana Daniels, Peter Booysen and Craig Jarman taking part in their first 42km.

Other members who took part in the 42km included Nelia van Schalkwyk, Chantel Bromwich, Janeen Botha and Vicky Langa.

Some of the members who preferred to tackle the 21km were Viyonne Longmore, Stella Scott, Veronica Ridderhof, Natalie Atmore, Rahsida Moosa, Jen Parsons, Elouise Jones, Travis Clark, Sonika Dimond and Dave Robinson.

Stella earned a new personal best in the 21km with a time of 2:23.

A big thank you to Josh Marsden who was spectating and helping the runners with water who were battling with the heat on the day.

The club hosts a 2km and a 4km time trial at the country club every Wednesday at 5.15pm.

All enthusiastic runners and walkers in Scottburgh are welcome to join. There are other informal running and walking activities arranged through the week.
