Jolly good time

A lovely, festive atmosphere prevailed during the Human Rights Day celebrations at Blue Waters Pub and Grill last Thursday.

The music of DJ Funky set the mood for the day and obviously whetted the appetites of those present, as staff were rushed off their feet providing food and drinks to the many customers.

The winner of the ‘Thursday raffle was Pam Sykes, who walked off with a box of Easter eggs and many congratulations. There will be a raffle every Thursday in future, with all profits going to South Coast Hospice.

Fare thee well

All good things come to an end and unfortunately Olive and John Mett and Roy Garrett will be returning to their home in Middlesborough, UK, within the next few days. Their visits to their home is Leisuredene Village are sincerely enjoyed by the community and John always enjoys himself immensely on the local bowling greens. They are wished a safe flight home.

Thank you

Steve Coulson has been discharged from hospital and hopefully will not be readmitted. Your scribe would like to thank Marie and Willie van Rensburg and Paula and Charles Greener for help and lifts offered, as well as to all those who enquired about his health during the past two weeks.

Three cheers

Happy anniversary to Heather and Curly McDuling and to Freda and Bernard Carpenter on April 1. Birthday wishes this week go to Johan van den Berg (28th), Carike Oosthuizen (29th), Jeanette Burger and Rita Perreira (30th), and Charlie Smith and Sarel Bradbury on the 31st.

Load shedding reared its ugly head last week and hopefully will be less prevalent this week than last. It did not however seem to deter holidaymakers and the beach and surrounds were extremely busy. Remember to keep Lizzie busy with Hibberdene news and snippets.
