Margate Moves: Power restored in Ramsgate

It is believed that major cable damage was done by an Ugu District Municipality excavation.

RESIDENTS in Ramsgate north who have been without electricity for days were finally switched on again on Monday this week.

It is believed that major cable damage was done by an Ugu District Municipality excavation. Eskom had to source a new cable in Durban which caused a longer repair delay.

Reminder

The Lower South Coast branch of the South African Air Force Association (SAAFA) kicks off its 2019 this weekend.

Members and airmen interested in the association are invited to a luncheon at the Village Bowling Club at Margate Retirement Village this Sunday, February 10 at 12pm.

Twilight bowls

Margate Bowling Club invites everyone to play twilight bowls every Wednesday (starting on the 13th) for a fun league.

Entry is R20 per person and each team will comprise two novices and two bowlers – all ages. Dress is casual, flat-soled shoes or bare feet.

Starting time is 6pm and boerewors rolls are availble.

Starry night

The Residents’ Activities Committee at Margate Retirement Village is delighted to present its first supper theatre event-of-the-year `A Night of the Stars’ featuring talented singer, Tascha and Elvis impersonator, Charl Vegas. It will be staged at the Azalea Hall on Saturday, February 23. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm.

Pack a picnic and liquid refreshment and enjoy an evening of great entertainment. Tickets at R75 per person are on sale from the RAC or admin offices at the village. For details phone 039 3125000.

Take note the next monthly movie offering at the village is `Calamity Jane’. it will be screened in the Ronnie Baker Hall on Sunday (17th) at 2.30pm. Cost is R5 which included tea/coffee and biscuits during the intermission.

Save the date

Doc Maclean will be on stage at Rocky Ridge in Ramsgate on Friday, March 15. Entry is R50 per person and the doors and kitchen will be open from 6pm.

Another venue that offers great live entertainment every Friday is Tom, Dick and Harry in Ramsgate. Billy the Skit had everyone up and dancing and singing along last Friday.

Congratulations

Huge congratulations to Shay and Christopher Mitchell on the birth of their beautiful son, Kela Craiglen, on January 24. Grandparents June and Glen Smit and Sandy and Craig Mitchell are the proudest foursome in town these days

Warm welcome

Merhba (which is welcome in Maltese) to Mariette Noordveld and Willem Gousbloem who arrived on the South Coast this week. The couple who live in Sliema, Malta are visiting their good friends Frans and Elvira Boom (from Utrecht, Holland) who have a holiday home in Ramsgate. Mariette and Willem, who are originally also from the Netherlands, have visited our corner of the world before and have made many locals their friends.

They are wished a fabulous holiday here.
