‘Lazer Boy’ is doing well

The newborn was found abandoned in July last year.

The story of the abandoned newborn baby dubbed ‘Lazer Boy’, who was dumped at the back of a house in Sugar Mill Road near the Umzimkhulu River in July last year, captured the hearts of South Coasters.

Carol Meth, Child Welfare, Port Shepstone public relations officer, confirmed the case is still pending, and that the baby is in temporary safe care where he is described as ‘healthy and progressing well’.

The nickname ‘Lazer Boy’ was coined by Kerwin Dicken (35), a reaction unit officer from Lazer 911 who discovered the newborn baby naked, face down and still with his umbilical cord attached.

The baby had reportedly been lying in the bush among rocks and broken glass for three days.
