The body of a 26-year-old man was found in the Mpambanyoni River by a fisherman in the early hours of January 2.
Authorities were alerted and members of the Port Shepstone Search and Rescue Unit removed the body from the river.

Communications officer Captain Adam Francis of the Scottburgh Saps said: “The man was identified by his family. An inquest docket has been registered and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.”
Detective Warrant Officer Vis Moodley of the Scottburgh Saps is the investigating officer.
