Two men from Gamalakhe were recently arrested for manufacturing illegal alcohol after police received a tip-off.

Sergeant Dawie Malan, Constable Muziwakhe Magubane and Sgt Thulani Nkonyeni from the Gamalakhe police station, together with Warrant Officer Johan Terreblanche and Sgt Orlando Nyawose from Port Shepstone SAPS K9 Unit, last Saturday confiscated a large number of bottles filled with fake vodka, containers of ethanol, empty bottles, packaging, a container filled with a chemical substance, cash and two cellphones.
The approximate value of the confiscated items is thought to be R100 000.
The suspects, aged 18 and 32 years respectively, appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on Monday this week, where the case was postponed for further investigation.
Samples of the fake vodka will be sent to the forensic science laboratory for analysis.
