Two shot dead in squabble over drugs at Port Shepstone Taxi Rank

An alleged drug dealer opened fire on the men whom he accused of stealing from him.

Heroin, apparently stolen from an alleged drug dealer at the Port Shepstone taxi rank last Tuesday, led to two men being shot dead.

Port Shepstone police are investigating the shooting, which occurred at about 1.45pm.

“The alleged dealer left the rank after the theft, returning later with a weapon he then used to shoot both the men who had apparently stolen the drugs from him. Both were taken to hospital, where they later died,” said police spokesman,  Captain Petros Mpinge.

The Port Shepstone Public Order Policing (POP) followed up on information which led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man. The firearm was recovered and a murder case has been opened for investigation by Port Shepstone police.

The suspect appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s court last week and the case was postponed to November 27 for bail application.

He remains in police custody.
