Records smashed at Splash Gala

Strong wind and occasional rain wasn't enough to put the swimmers off.

BLUE Ocean Aquatics swimming club hosted its annual Splash Gala at Creston College with 124 swimmers from all over the province attending the event in very trying weather.

Swimmers and parents persevered and the gala went on.

The school with the most entries was Kokstad Junior School and the club with the most entries, barring the hosts, was Margate Swimming Club.

The standard of racing was high with 15 records being broken in the various age groups.

Looking ahead, the next gala will be in February 2019.

6 and under girls: Isabelle van Heerden, Seagulls Swim Club.

6 and under boys: Keagan Ramos, Margate Swimming Club.

7 year-old girls: Claire Roberts, Port Edward Primary School.

7 year-old boys: Kal-El Vermeulen, Margate Swimming Club.

8 year-old girls: Nadia le Roux, Aqua Life Style.

8 year-old boys: Nabil Bejia, Blue Ocean Aquatics Swimming Club.

9 year-old girls: Tahl-Cadi Day-Garden, Margate Swimming Club.

9 year-old boys: Jayden Vermeulen, Margate Swimming Club.

10 year-old girls: Daena Robinson, Blue Ocean Aquatics Swimming Club.

10 year-old boys: Aiden van Heerden, Seagulls Swim Club.

11 year-old girls: Hannah Parry, Blue Ocean Aquatics Swimming Club.

11 year-old boys: Mason Hielckert, Blue Ocean Aquatics Swimming Club.

12 year-old girls: Ashleigh Fick, Aqua Life Style.

12 year-old boys: Geoffrey Wiggill, Warner Beach Primary School.

13 year-old girls: Janine le Roux, Aqua Life Style.

13 year-old boys: Bryce Haigh, Kokstad Junior Primary.
