Rugby Warriors prove to be ‘Dewars’ not talkers

It was a fitting end for a team that has worked hard during the year.

IT was a great evening for the Riversmead South Coast rugby Warriors when they won the Dewar Shield by beating Piet Retief 55-12 at King’s Park Stadium last week Friday.

After dropping down from premier to the first division this year, the Warriors had a fair amount to prove this year.

What made the victory just that little bit sweeter was that it was played on head coach/super sub Juan van den Berg’s birthday.

In the week before the match, there was a ‘tie and braai’ for the players ahead of the final, with Danie Steyn of Status Panelbeaters (one of the team’s main sponsors along with Riversmead) performing the honours.

Men of the match were ‘Lang Jan’ Madlala (forwards) and Senanelo Ndlazi (backline).
