The corridors of Port Shepstone High School were silent and sombre last Tuesday, September 4. Matric pupil Yamkelo Mdewuka died on the evening September 3 after being involved in a hit and run accident the previous weekend.

He attended both Port Shepstone Junior and Senior Primary and started at Sheppie High from gr 8. The 17-year-old was a keen sportsman and wore the number 12 jersey for the Ugu basketball and the school’s first team.
He was awarded school senior half colours for the sport. He also enjoyed playing soccer and had a special talent for rap music.
He wrote and performed his own compositions. Yamkelo will be fondly remembered by his peers and teachers for his infectious smile.
Sincere condolences are extended to his family and all who knew and loved him.
