UPDATE: Three month old baby abducted in Hibberdene – second suspect arrested

A second suspect has been arrested.

UPDATE:

The second suspect, a 16-year-old woman was arrested on Monday this week at Lamontville area, and was released into the custody of the parents.

She appeared yesterday (Tuesday) in the Umzumbe Magistrate’s Court where the case was postponed to July 16. The 21-year-old man made his second court appearance on Monday this week, and his case was postponed to July 16 for bail application.

The mother of a 3 month old baby that went missing from her Hibberdene home says she wants justice for her child.

Her baby was reportedly taken from her arms on June 2, while she was asleep at home.

The mother says the baby had allegedly been kidnapped by her cousin and his girlfriend, who had been visiting at the time.

“They stayed with us for two weeks. On the day I woke up with my child gone, i found that they too had left.”

The distraught mother says she hoped those responsible would be sent to jail as she had been traumatised by the incident.

According to KZN police spokesman Colonel Thulani Zwane,  Port Shepstone FCS Unit members followed up on information on the whereabouts of the missing baby boy.

“They went to a house in Phungula Street, Lamontville, where the baby was found.”

It is believed the baby was not well and had been taken to hospital.

A 21-year-old suspect was arrested at V section, Umlazi.

The police are still searching for the second suspect.
