From the bowling greens: Tweni triumph over Southport at ‘cricket’

BANNERS REST

The Tiago’s 2-4-2 mixed pairs played last Tuesday was won by John Keppler and Leoni Booth.

Placed second were Dice Graaff and Myra Doubell, and third Gino Alilovic and Amelia Pieterse. The 50/50 board went to Chris Green.

Winners of the SuperSpar Port Edward Tri-Club mixed drawn pairs 2018 were Pam Cole-Cook and Bran Camps.

Second were Marianne van Buuren and Chris Pozyn, third Mary Phelps and Ken Simm, with the half-lamb raffle going to Rob Lyle.

MARGATE BC

Taking first place in the Warwick Wealth competition last Thursday were Alan and Ann Gibson, with Herman Scheinberg and Maureen McLemon.

Second place went to Buks Botma, Rob Miller, Neville Philpott and Alex Forrest.

Third were Gerry Davey, Brian Smalberger, Georgie McKechnie and Margaret Duffield.

Mugg & Bean winners were Denzil Massyn and Gary Hess from Ellen Cawker and Brian Smalberger.

Session to Derek McKechnie and James Mitchell.

Well done and congratulations to Kobie Stander and Dora Vosloo on winning the KBA women’s pairs last Sunday.

MUNSTER

Chris Green, Helen Cock and Lynn Meek won the Spar mixed trips, from Albert and Eileen van der Lith, with Lizette Greeff.

‘Wick Inn Draw’ Club this Friday (6th) will be open from 4pm, draw will take place at 5pm, followed by candlelight bowls at 6pm.

NOMADS

Next outing is at the Village this Sunday (8th) at 8.30am for 9am.

All bowlers are welcome to join the Nomads on the day. There will be a bring and braai after the game.

PSCC

The monthly Harbour View SuperSpar trips last Sunday saw 10 teams of three players each take part.

Winners were Phil Myburgh, Paul Mundel and Michelle Vermeulen, from runners-up Hew Hodgson, Phillip Geyer and Irena Eigenmann.

The session prize was won by the team of Keith and Gill Thiele, with Winnie Hess.

RIVERSIDE

Graham and Pauline Dunlop won the Food Lover’s 2-4-2 last week, followed by Adriana Peens and Attie Ackerman.

Sessions went to Madge and Harry Nicolson, Norma Louw and Henry Bakaza.

Next sponsored competition is the Hopdens Spar drawn trips on Thursday, July 12 at 1.30pm.

SOUTHBROOM

Wolf Security open trips was won by Vernon and Bev Clements with Viv Date.

Runners-up were Mal Sheppard, Mariette du Preez and Elize Bester.

First session to Tony Waters, Chris Faber and André Coetzer; second session to Brent Addison, Trebla Lansdell and Ferro van Greunen.

SOUTHPORT

The winners of the women’s mixed trips sponsored by Harbour View SuperSpar were Tammy Gibbons, Daphne Hounsell and Pat Maggs.

Runners-up were Vell Manion, Anne Payn and Lyn Coetzer. Session prize went to Kitty Cochman, Susan Delpeche and Glenda Verster.

THE BELL

Winners of the Orca restaurant sponsored competition were Peter and Pat Maggs with Anne Payn.

Runners-up were Rynier van Tonder, Hennie Greyling and Frik van Rensburg.

Session prize went to Renzo van Niekerk, Hew Hodgson and Daphne Hounsell.

Daphne Sapsford and Mada Lindeque finished in second place in the KBA women’s pairs.

Sharolyn Dacey and Tina Barbour were placed third.

A successful youth fun afternoon of bowls was held last Saturday.

Tabs in bowls are played every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon and Sunday mornings. All welcome.

TWENI

The annual bowls/cricket game between Umtentweni and Southport was won by Umtentweni this year.

Jenny Graham, president of Umtentweni BC, received the trophy from Fanie Strydom, president of Southport BC.

The Razzel’s mixed fours was won by Keith Mills, Tammy Gibbons, Jan Scholtz and Pat Bird.

Runners-up were Peet and Susan van Rooyen, with Barry and Desiree Krause.

Session prize went to Howard and Elena Frizelle with Astrid Jackson and Nellie Davies.

VILLAGE

The winners of the Hopdens Kwikspar mixed 2-4-2 were Gary Hess and Dawn Oehley, from Herman and Sharon Scheinberg.

First session to Ina Malan and Carl Volker, from Winston van Greune and Margaret Jones. 50/50 to Julia Walker.
