Two aces at Southbroom Golf Club

There can't be a better hole to have an ace, well not in terms of a great view, on the South Coast anyway.

There have been two holes-in-one at Southbroom Golf Club of late.

Jim Cook aced the 4th hole for his third overall, while Sandy FitzGerald also holed out on the 4th, for her first ‘fluke’.

Jim Cook has now had three holes-in-one in his career.

The club is also gearing up for the Southbroom Amateur Classic, which will be played from July 9 to 13, and which has an entry of 166 players.

Last Wednesday’s competition was won on nett 70 by Allyson Thomas.

The Stableford section winner was Jeanne Powell on 38 points, by one from Trish Amm.

In the men’s section, Chris Miller zipped around in nett 64.

Howard Kelly won the Stableford on 42 points, by one from Derek James.

Last Saturday’s Casa Toscana competition was won on 41 points by Jean Corfe and Lesley Godley, by two from Shelley Myers and Margie Sherratt, who counted out Di Morris and Augi D’Ewes.

The men’s section was won on 49 points by Arthur Lee and Erwin Schanda, by three from Jim Cook and Gerald FitzGerald, who counted out Helmut Maidl and Craig FitzGerald.

Chicken Run winner was Geoff Skelton on 22 points, with Malcolm Greenland and Nic van Deventer next on 20 points.
