Men who robbed and shot Pennington teen in home robbery apprehended

Both suspects will face charges of house robbery and attempted murder.

THE family of the Pennington teenager who was shot while tackling armed robbers at his home recently, may soon be able to sleep peacefully knowing that both alleged robbers have been apprehended.

During the early hours of Monday morning, April 30, members of the Ugu Cluster Operational Command Centre and the Umzinto K9 Unit teamed up and acted on information that suggested that the two suspects were hiding in Dududu.

One of the suspects spotted the police officers and took aim at them resulting in him being shot at by police.

He sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.

“Both suspects were arrested and a 9mm pistol with six live rounds of ammunition were recovered by police,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

Both suspects will face charges of house robbery and attempted murder when they are to appear in Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court.

The wounded suspect is also set to face additional charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and of pointing a firearm.

He will appear in the Vulamehlo Magistrate’s Court on these charges.
