‘Fab’ time for golfer Graham

The hard work is paying off.

GRAHAM Fabricius has made the KwaZulu-Natal Country Districts golf team for the second year in a row.

This follows after the annual Interzone tournament which was held at Kokstad Golf Club last weekend.

The Southern KZN golf team ended up third overall out of six teams, which was not too bad considering they were not at full strength.

Fabricius and Jason Gilliver from Selborne Park were selected for the team for the South African Country Districts tournament which will be played in Potchefstroom in May this year.

Interzone was won by Ilembe Golf Federation, with Northern KZN runners-up.

One of the highlights of the weekend was that of Gilliver winning the strokeplay on the Friday, with scores of 67 and 72.

Fabricius placed third on scores of 76 and 75.

The team comprised Gilliver, Fabricius, Robert Mavundla, Mitchel Hampson, Elvis Khawula, Gary Purtell, Derick Zolyomi and Cyprian Xolo.

A week before this, the Southern KZN league team trounced Mount Edgecombe Country Club ‘2’ at Southbroom Golf Club by a margin of 11,5-0,5 to get their league campaign back on track.

They’ll play Victoria CC at Southbroom on April 8.

The team will be Gavin Sole, Fabricius, Mavundla, Hampson, Khawula, Purtell, Jarrod van Wyk and one other, still to be confirmed. Gilliver has club champs that weekend.
