A Harding man was left traumatised after he was hijacked and left in the bushes on Tuesday last week.
The 23-year-old driver gave a man a lift from Ibisi to Harding at about 1.30pm. While travelling towards Harding, near the Umzimkhulu turn-off, the hitch-hiker pulled out a knife and threatened the driver.

“After a struggle the assailant overpowered the driver and took him to a bushy area where he tied him up with his belt. He then drove away in the car. A lookout for the hijacked car was circulated,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
Last Wednesday at about 10am the car was picked up via a tracking device and the KZN Durban SAPS Airwing was summoned.
While the aerial search was going on, Warrant Officer Gabriel Nel and W/O Marc Wiid from Port Shepstone K9 unit also followed the signal.
The signal was tracked to a home in Mabaleni in St Faith’s, where the vehicle was recoered. The suspect fled the scene. The car was impounded for investigation.
