Sadly Hayden Albertyn (88) of Umtentweni died on February 19. Some folk may remember him as the Methodist lay preacher who preached until he turned 80. Sincere condolences to Vanessa and family.

Eysore

One pleasing report is that the dumping in Commercial Road has slowed to a mere trickle. RNM needs to send a crew into the bushes in Old St Faith’s towards the stream – the rubbish has been there for months.

Water wastage

Commercial and Conway Roads have had a couple of burst pipes recently with water literally gushing out.

Good job

Last Wednesday evening around 7pm, a tree fell across Rethman Drive onto a vehicle, blocking traffic in both directions. No one was hurt and the RNM Fire Department did a sterling job clearing it up in record time.

It’s a mystery

The camera at Rethman Drive captured footage of a vehicle going through a red traffic light last Thursday. Luckily no one was injured when two vehicles collided.

Early last Saturday morning shots were fired in the Casuarina Sands area. Quite a few people woke up to the sounds, but no one is really sure who did the firing.

Support needed

Don’t forget the ‘Tweni Camera Fund-raiser’ at Muddy Boots Car Boot Sale this Sunday, March 4th. To be a stallholder or to park your car costs R50 for adults and R35 for pensioners. This week there is a lucky draw, so if you spend R30 or more at any stall, you will receive a lucky ticket. The draw will take place at 12.30pm.

Don’t enable

The SAPS has requested that residents no longer support beggars, especially at traffic lights. And those selling goods are a danger to themselves and traffic.

Thank you

There is an effort being made by RNM to repair potholes – thanks! Also, a huge thanks to private citizens who fill holes like Jan Breytenbach in Taplin Road and Graham Mc Gill who was active in Chakas Road, as well as Old St Faith’s near Jaxx.

Happy birthday

Birthday girl Judith Vorster celebrated her 70th on February 22 with friends and family. Anne Groom and Merle Seaton will celebrate on Friday (March 2nd). Flu is doing the rounds at present, so remember to double up on your vitamin C and drink lots of water. All news to Leila.
