Bumper weekend for Salga swimmers

The experience was a good one for local swimmers.

Margate Swimming Club had three up-and-coming swimmers representing Ugu at the South African Local Government Association (Salga) Games in Richards Bay last weekend.

All three swimmers had a bumper weekend in the pool with Danica Pretorius bringing home a bronze medal for the 200m individual breaststroke for girls (U14) in a time of 3.41.99.

She also took part in the 200m freestyle relay that won silver and the 200m medley that won bronze.

Both Tristan Horsley and Bayanda Hufner, despite being only 10 years old, swam in age groups two years above their current ages and had some encouraging performances.

Tristen placed 12th in the 50m backstroke, 13th in the 100m backstroke and sixth in the 100m butterfly. Bayanda placed 11th in the 50m backstroke and eighth in the 100m breaststroke.
