Murder accused abandons bail application at Scottburgh court

Kheswa is due to appear again in the Scottburgh Magistrate's Court on December 20.

MURDER accused, 23-year-old Thulani Percival Kheswa, appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on last Wednesday for a formal bail application hearing.

Kheswa, who faces four charges of murder, two of attempted murder and 10 charges of armed robbery, abandoned his bail application.

He will remain behind bars until his next court appearance.

The accused is alleged to have plagued the Amandawe community for some time, robbing locals of valuables at gunpoint and, in two separate incidents, shot and killed two people, a woman and a man.

Kheswa was also linked to two additional murders, one in Umkomaas, the other in Hibberdene.

During his arrest, police seized various cellphones, a tablet, dagger, watches, a pair of bloodstained pants, memory cards and sim cards as well as the firearm which is believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes.

Kheswa is due to appear again in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on December 20.
