Former South Coaster Reevana makes top five in Mrs South Africa contest

Reevana Govender is proud to have been able to represent her home town, Port Shepstone, in the Mrs South Africa contest.

BEING a Mrs South Africa finalist has been a privilege for Reevana Govender (29). The South Coast-born optometrist, now living in Gauteng, said she has been overwhelmed with the love and support received since finishing in the top five for Mrs South Africa over the weekend. Sharing her experience over the pageant she said she had been on a journey of sisterhood, self-discovery and passion.

“I am empowered and strong yet still able to embrace my beauty and unique femininity. I am filled with hope for the many married South African women whose passion for life will be ignited through this empowerment movement and I know that I will look back with immense gratitude, as this is just the beginning of my journey,” she said.

Being able to be in the top five was an absolute honour for her. “I competed with the most beautiful and inspiring women, who were all so worthy of the crown. To be recognised as a top five finalist is truly an achievement to me. I feel proud to have been able to represent my home town (Port Shepstone) and to have been able to make my family and all my supporters proud.”

She added that she is overwhelmed with the love and support she received.

Most importantly she is blessed to have left this legacy for her daughter Mayil (3) and hopes that women all over the world start realising that their journey of self-discovery and empowerment does not end with marriage or motherhood.

“I may not have taken away a crown but the experience and growth I have gone through have been phenomenal. I am thankful for the opportunity and will strive to continue to inspire South African women to become the greatest versions of themselves.”

The Mrs SA 2017 title was won by Nicole Capper.
