Radio 702’s Xolani Gwala confirms cancer diagnosis

He faces a long and difficult fight, but he's ready for it.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness, which is an annual campaign aimed at increasing awareness of the disease.

SABC1’s former Asikhulume presenter and now Radio 702 presenter, Xolani Gwala (46), was chatting to Stephen Grootes on 702 today (Friday, September 29), when he confirmed that he has been diagnosed with colon cancer.

“After thorough investigations they found that I have colon cancer which was advanced. Quite advanced,” he said.

Channel 24 reported that the presenter mentioned that he has undergone one operation so far to remove tumour.

“Obviously there’s still quite a lot that still needs to happen. As early as next week I’m starting chemo therapy. And then there may be another operation later on,” he added.
