Mamba makes surprise visit

A holidaymaker walked into a snake that was resting in the security gate.

THE Altini family has been visiting the South Coast for more than 30 years but this summer’s annual holiday brought them an unexpected visitor. Lucia Moreira takes up the story.

“Friday, December 20 was turning out to be a relaxing afternoon after a well spent day at the beach. We did not expect a visit from a rather large bright green snake. I accidentally walked into its tail as I entered the room. It was resting on the security door and curtain rail, minding its own business.”

Lucia quickly called Anwar Shaik of Surf Boyz, who was able to supply her with the number of Terrence Whittle of Pure Venom. In the meantime, they had to keep their eyes on the snake in case it decided to explore more of the house.

“Terrence and his colleague arrived 20 minutes later and swiftly and professionally captured the snake,” says Lucia. “They confirmed it to be a green mamba. Hopefully no more slithering creatures will be dropping by this holiday. We would like to extend our grateful thanks to Terrence for being able to assist us so efficiently.” The snake has found a safe home at Pure Venom.
