Men accused of business burglary appear in Umzinto Magistrate’s Court

Entry into the storeroom had been gained by breaking the lock.

SELBY Sbongiseni Mkhize (36) and Scelo Cele (32) appeared in the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 17, facing charges of business burglary.

The duo were arrested by Detective Warrant Officer Steyn Moonsamy and Detective Constables Erasmus Mbutho and Deon Govender of the Umzinto SAPS Detective Service on Saturday, July 15.

“An Umzinto businessman did a stock-take at the Fantastic Supermarket storeroom in Umzinto on July 4 following an apparent burglary. He discovered that 15 three-plate gas stoves, three two-plate gas stoves and 13 one hundred litre capacity aluminium cooking pots had been stolen,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

Entry into the storeroom had been gained by breaking the lock.

The detectives were able to recover 10 gas stoves.

The accused were remanded into police custody and will reappear in court on July 27 for bail application.
