Carnival capers

Margate’s NG Church’s annual Big Bazaar is definitely a highlight on the South Coast’s entertainment calendar. For the past few months the congregation has been hard at work to ensure a day of fabulous fun and fine fare.

It takes place at St Mike’s beach this Saturday (8th) from 9am to 1pm. Be advised to get there early to snap up bargains and to tuck into a tasty breakfast/lunch as fair-goers will be spoilt for choice by the many tempting treats on offer.

Take the plunge

The Johannesburg Skydiving Club will visit the South Coast this month. If you weigh less than 110kgs and you have always wanted to `fly’ then head up to Margate Airport between July 6 and 9 where you will experience the thrill of skydiving.

No comprehensive ground school is needed for a tandem skydive. A highly qualified instructor will brief you before the jump and you will wear a strong passenger harness which will be connected to the instructor. To book phone 073 1456017.

Exotic blooms

Another hardy annual (pardon the pun) on the social calendar is the Alfred County Orchid Society’s winter show.

The venue for this year’s expo and nature conservation display is the Margate Methodist Church hall this Friday, July 7 from 8.30am to 4.30pm and Saturday July 8 from 8.30am to 1.30pm. For details contact Barbara at 039 3171992.
