South Coast dogs shine at open show in Scottburgh
Dog jumping was round three of the National Dog Jumping League, where the same course is set up in all the provinces.
SOUTH Coast dogs and handlers were up bright and early two weeks ago to attend the Bluff Dog Club Open Show at Scottburgh Country Club.
Gail Taylor judged agility. The gr 1 contact agility course flowed nicely for the younger dogs, which helped their confidence. In the large dog category, Shimmer and Ninette Smith were first, Kai and Kristin Livingstone second and Georgina and Tracy Norton third.
The course was more difficult for gr 2 and even more so for gr 3 dogs. In the gr 3 large dog category, Turbo and Rosemarie Ludwig finished first and Sparkle and Ninette Smith second.

In the small dog category, Swish and Ninette Smith placed first and Gunner and Billy Engelbrecht second.
Non-contact agility started with gr 3 and the course flowed, but had some traps here and there. In the large dog category, Banshee and Renate Hausmann came third, with Page and Heather Moorcroft placing third in the medium dog category.
Small dogs had Swish and Ninette Smith coming first and Gunner and Billy Engelbrecht second. Gr 2 was slightly easier and there, Georgina and Tracy Norton took first place, Glitz and Ninette Smith second, and Phoenix and Kristin Livingstone third.
Gr 1 was once again a nice, flowing, straightforward course for younger dogs and Shimmer and Ninette Smith placed first and Demi and Rosemarie Ludwig came second in the large dog category.
In the medium dog category, Bernice Smit and Ty were first and Heather Moorcroft and Nina, second.
Dog jumping was round three of the National Dog Jumping League, where the same course is set up in all the provinces and the results are calculated nationally for grades 1, 3 and 5.
In gr 2 locally, Shimmer and Ninette Smith came first. Scooby and Gaby Frey scooped first place, Po and Michelle Howard second, and Tessa and Heather Moorcroft third in grade 3. Gr 4 saw Nina and Heather Moorcroft winning and Bobbit and Michelle Howard came third.
In gr 5, Sparkle and Ninette Smith placed first and Mindy and Bernice Smit placed second. Miley and Billy Engelbrecht came second in gr 6.
