Cyclist killed in hit and run near Port Edward

The driver of the vehicle is believed to be from Durban.

A CYCLIST was killed on the R61 near Port Edward in an apparent hit-and-run accident last Sunday morning.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said at around 6am, the 40-year-old man was riding his bicycle on the R61 near Port Edward when he was apparently struck by a black sedan with an ND registration.

“The driver of the vehicle failed to stop,” she added.

The man died at the scene.

A culpable homicide docket was opened at Port Edward SAPS.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Port Edward police at 039 3115430 or 10111.
