Police officers swoop on Sheppie taxi rank – two arrested and more drugs recovered

A total of 1 797 heroin capsules and 130 Mandrax tablets were confiscated, with a combined street value of R77 080.

TWO more men suspected of dealing in drugs were arrested at the Port Shepstone taxi rank yesterday (Sunday).

“At about 1pm officers from the Port Shepstone 10111 Call Centre Response Unit, Sergeant Rudi Smit, Sgt Selby Cele, Constable Sandile Mpisane and Cst Sbu Cele stepped in and assisted officers from the Port Shepstone Crime Intelligence Gathering Unit,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

Two men, aged 39 and 40, were found in possession of Mandrax tablets and heroin capsules.

They were arrested and are expected to appear in court today (Monday).

A total of 1 797 heroin capsules and 130 Mandrax tablets were confiscated, with a combined street value of R77 080.
