Port Shepstone police recover drugs and dangerous weapons

Three suspects are in custody and are expected to appear in court soon.

POLICE recovered an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and dangerous weapons at a house in Bhomela, near Port Shepstone recently.

Officers from the Port Shepstone Project Team received information which led to the arrest.

They found two men  – aged 20 and 25 respectively – in the house and asked them to open the safe.

“The safe was found to contain a 3.75 mm revolver, five 3.75 mm rounds and two 9mm rounds,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

“They could not produce a licence. Two large dagger-like knives, a number of bank notes and 75 capsules of heroin were also found in the safe,” she said.

The two men were arrested and  will appear in court soon.

Also late last week, a man (23) was arrested at the Port Shepstone taxi rank by the same officers, who found he was carrying  13 capsules of heroin.

The street value of the drugs is R3 960.
