A large sum of cash and the company's vehicle were taken.

POLICE are searching for two men who hijacked a man in Umzumbe on Monday  this week.

It is believed the man (47) was sitting in his company bakkie, doing some paperwork at a site on the Umzumbe river near Fairview Mission at around 2pm, when he was approached by a man who pointed a firearm at him.

“The man took a large sum of cash and a cellphone from the driver before instructing him to alight from the vehicle,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

She added that a second suspect then also appeared, got into the man’s bakkie and drove off, leaving his accomplice and the driver on the side of the road.

“Shortly afterwards another vehicle arrived. The first suspect jumped into the vehicle, which then also drove off,” she said.

Police are investigating.
