NEWSFLASH: Armed intruders grab sleeping Scottburgh woman by the throat

Two of the men were armed, one with a pistol and one with a rifle.

FOUR armed men struck in Scottburgh during the early hours of this morning, and were only noticed by the homeowner when it was too late.

The owner of the Ann Arbor Road property, a 50-year-old man, was working at his laptop just after midnight when four armed men walked into the house through an open door.

Two of the men, armed with a pistol and a rifle, kept watch over the man while the other two  went to the bedroom where his mother was sleeping.

The woman, apparently in her 70s, was grabbed by the throat, throttled and taken from the bedroom to her son, with a warning not to scream.

The men ransacked the house taking whatever they could find before fleeing.

A flat screen television, cellphone, wristwatch, laptop and television remote were stolen.

Leading the investigation is Detective Warrant Officer, Yugen Moodley of the Scottburgh Cluster Detective Task Team.

He is appealing to anyone with information to come forward and contact them a 039 9781900, or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

No arrests have been made.
