Armed robbers on the loose after hitting Umzinto liquor store

The robbers fled the scene of the crime in a getaway vehicle

UMZINTO Detectives are trying to track down three criminals, two of whom robbed a liquor store owner in Umzinto on March 5.

The third suspect drove the getaway vehicle.

The owner of the liquor store had gone to the store, apparently to collect a payment.

“While walking out of the store, he was approached by two men, one of whom pointed a gun at him,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

The man threw the packet containing the money on the ground.

One of the suspects grabbed the packet before they fled the scene, making their getaway in a black Toyota Corolla.

An armed robbery case has been registered for investigation.
