Rough road to ANC list
Not all was rosy in the build-up to selecting suitable candidates for the ANC's election list, but it's now done and dusted.
IT was no easy task, but the ANC’s Lower South Coast Region has finally released its candidate list for the August 3 local government elections.
In the run-up, the coast saw many battles over candidates – violent community protests, boxing matches, burning tyres and even death threats.
Regional spokesman Sipho Dlamalala finally came up with the names at a meeting in Port Shepstone on Tuesday.
“We are well aware that most branches within the party in our region had battles,” he said
“Places like Harding, Izingolweni, Umzumbe, Kwanzimakwe all had problems selecting their candidates. However, the correct processes were followed by the party.”
