Karate federation elects new members

A VERY successful annual general meeting was held by the World Karate Federation (WKF) Ugu karate region recently.

The meeting was held under the auspices of Karate KwaZulu-Natal with Shihan Ben Mare, sensei Bheki Duma (Ugu sports confederation and Jay Machie (secretary of Ugu Sports Confederation).

Newly elected committee members are Sensei Coenie Vrey (chairman), sensei Grant Selkon (vice-chairman), Sensei Elsie Pretorius (secretary), Morgan Moonsamy (treasurer), Shihan Pikkas Windell (technical conveyor) and Shihan Dave Millar (tournament director). The World Karate Federation Ugu karate region is affiliated to Karate KwaZulu-Natal and Karate South Africa (KSA), the only recognised bodies that can award Ugu colours, KZN colours and Protea colours to karateka.

Ugu karate region will hold its annual karate tournament on Saturday, May 21 at the Port Shepstone Secondary school hall.
