Ferals poisoned and mutilated

The remaining cats suffered trauma after this sadistic act and did not want to eat for almost a week.

DEAR Editor,-

This letter would be to the person(s) poisoning the feral cats at Shelly Beach harbour. I have been feeding these ferals for almost seven years and all of them had been spayed and neutered, exept for one male.

First, three cats who would never miss a feeding disappeared and then about three weeks later, another three of ‘my colony’ disappeared, along with some of the cats that I know about from the Admiralty side of the harbour.

I found only two of the bodies about two weeks later and the SPCA collected them for autopsy purposes. Due to the bodies already being in a state of decomposition, the reasons for death could not be confirmed, but were noted as ‘an obvious poison case’.

I would love to say to the person(s) responsible – Do you know that those cats were sterilised, loved and well cared for throughout the years and this feeding stop was the highlight of my morning route? There were eight cats for more than three years and I have been feeding the eldest one, Brat’tjie, for almost seven years. You took away my biggest joy and left me with nightmares of their suffering and mutilation by your hand.

Throughout the years I attempted to solve every problem people had with any of my ferals. I even bought R2000 worth of cat repellents for boat owners to stop the cats from going onto the boats, and it worked. Why did you not come to me and I would have made a plan like many times before? Instead you went ahead and killed my beloved cats.

Now, there are only two left, Spyker and little Cheeky. The male was neutered and the female was spayed just three weeks ago and I am now trying to find a home for them where they can be together, as they are the biggest of pals.

Do you know that those cats experienced trauma seeing their buddies die and they did not want to eat for almost a week? I hope you feel good about what you have done, but I know that Karma will get you, that’s a promise!

I need this letter published because I need to expose this cruel act and thereby try to ensure that the last two cats are safe from this ‘sadist’ until I can find a home for them.

  1. This is just a shocking act of cruelty. Give this man a dose of his own medicine and see how he likes that!! What goes around comes around and I hope you get what is coming to you is all I can say.
