Stolen vehicle swiftly recovered

It was 'same day service', courtesy of the Umzinto K9 Unit.

IT was a pleasant surprise for a Pennington pensioner when her vehicle was recovered on the same day she had reported it stolen.

The 67-year-old woman had parked her vehicle close to Ironwood Walk, in Ironwood Road, Pennington at around 8am.

“When she returned at lunch time, she discovered that her car had been stolen,” said KZN SAPS media centre corporate communication officer, Major Thulani Zwane.

The theft of the vehicle was reported to the Scottburgh SAPS and details of the vehicle were circulated over the police radio.

Warrant Officer Brendon Rensburg and Constable Pagel Rajah of the Umzinto K9 Unit were in the Umgababa area and immediately rushed off to the N2 highway in search of the stolen blue Mazda.

“They intercepted the vehicle, which was travelling north, and arrested two suspects. The car was impounded and the  suspects detained until their first court appearance. The case is being investigated by the Port Shepstone Vehicle Identification Section,” said Major Zwane.
