Actress hopes book will inspire others

'It's your attitude towards circumstances that matters the most' - Odette Henderson.

ODETTE Warder Henderson, who hails from Margate, recently published an inspirational book entitled ‘Poison Rose’, which she hopes will inspire others not to give up on life and always to believe in themselves.

“Whatever you’re going through, it is only temporary and you will get out of it. Use your power within,” she said, talking about her book.

Odette’s life is an example of determination and perseverance. She has overcome many great obstacles in her life. The one which made the biggest impact on her life was being in a coma at the age of 16, which left her handicapped and she had to undergo an extensive rehabilitation programme of almost 19 months.

Her recovery stunned several doctors and people from around the world. Her passion is to live her life to the fullest potential and share her remarkable life story with whoever crosses her path.

“No matter how great the situation is, how serious the medical problem is, or how negative the medical facts are, remember that miracles do happen and sometimes these miracles are not quite understood by man,” she said.

Today, the actress lives in Manhattan, New York City with her husband, Jean-Pierre Henderson, to whom she has dedicated the book. Odette has played roles in the Daredevil episode, Nelson v Murdock Trivia and also portrayed a pedestrian in the Sony Pictures’ production The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

People who knew about her life story asked her for several years to write a book and inspire others with what she has overcome in her life, for example, her miraculous recovery from the coma she was in in 1998.

Odette explained that each one of us experiences our own personal struggles in our everyday life in one way or the other. “It is your attitude towards circumstances that matters the most; remaining positive and making the best of what you have at this present moment,” she said.

The 181 page book is available on Amazon.com as an e-book, and also in paperback. She hopes to have it available in bookstores soon. The book is suitable for teenagers and older.
