Fatal collision in Paddock

The driver of the bakkie was flung from the vehicle.

A HEAD-ON collision between a bakkie and a kombi on the N2 in Paddock this morning left one man dead and two seriously injured.

Spokesman for KwaZulu-Natal Private Ambulance, Belinda Catchpole said paramedics arrived at the scene at about 9.30am.

“All emergency services were alerted about the collision. On  we found debris scattered all over the area from the two mangled vehicles.

“One of the vehicles was reportedly on its way to deliver medical stock to a hospital in Kokstad,” said Ms Catchpole.

According to reports,  the driver of the bakkie was thrown from his vehicle and declared dead at the scene.

The two seriously injured people, who were travelling in the kombi, were stabilised and transported to hospital.

A police statement on the collision is awaited from Margate SAPS.
