Taxi driver accused of raping mentally challenged teen
The rape was witnessed by the girl's cousin, who contacted the police.
A TAXI driver is on trial for allegedly raping a mentally challenged teenager in Matsheketsheni location in Gcilima near Southbroom last Friday.
“While the 19-year-old victim was at a tavern buying chips, a 30-year-old taxi driver allegedly pulled her to a nearby house where he raped her,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka.
“The rape was witnessed by the girl’s cousin who contacted the police and gave a description of the man. He was arrested over the weekend,” said Capt Mfeka.
The man appeared in the Ramsgate Court on Monday this week and was denied bail. The case was postponed to today (Thursday), October 15.
