Woman loses finger after dog bite

Police allegedly refused to open a case.

SHOCKED and in pain after being attached by a pack of dogs, Nonsikelelo Nkonyeni (30) from Gcilima near Paddock says she was also given short shrift at Margate Police station when she went to report the incident.

Nonsikelelo was on her way from work when she was attacked by five dogs, believed to  belong to her neighbor. “I was walking on the other side of the road  when the dogs chased me.

“I dropped all my plastic bags trying to escape from them,” said Nonsikelelo who was admitted to Port Shepstone Regional Hospital after losing her middle finger in the attack.

When she fell, all the dogs attacked her before she managed to summon help.

“We contacted the owner of the dogs and when he arrived he just told me I must go to the clinic,”she said.

After her discharge from hospital, she went to the police station to report the issue. There, she says,  police told her that no one had set the dogs on her.

Police spokesman Gerald Mfeka said the matter will be dealt with by the station commander.
