Clampdown on drugs in Tin Town

Police seized a number of illegal substances and made several arrests.

POLICE arrested a man and two women in Tin Town, Gamalakhe for being in possession of drugs last Saturday.

Police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka said Gamalakhe Crime Prevention officers received information about drugs circulating in the area. “Police responded and Constables Sifiso Mpofana and Mafika Mthembu arrested a 29-year-old woman . The officers found 10 Mandrax tablets in her possession,” said Capt Mfeka.

The officers later arrested a man and a woman for the same offence. Police found 15 Mandrax tablets on the man and the woman with 67 parcels of dagga. Both appeared in the Ramsgate court on Monday this week where the case was postponed for further investigation.

Police in Margate arrested a man who had 38 parcels of cocaine and dagga at a flat in Margate last Sunday. The man, who is believed to be from Nigeria, appeared in the Ramsgate court on Monday and the case was postponed for further investigation. He remains in police custody.
