Mkhabela to head delegation of SS United’s CAF Confederation Cup fixtures

"I have no doubt that as a region we are doing well, and also as individuals and these are some of the things we must celebrate."

SEDIBENG.- Breaking news is that Safa Sedibeng President, Solly Mkhabela has been appointed to head the SuperSport United delegation in all the club’s CAF Confederation Cup fixtures.

Mkhabela who is also part of the SAFA National Executive Committee (NEC) was appointed as Head of the Delegation on Monday. This good news was broken to Sedibeng Ster Sport by Mkhabela himself who was excited with the appointment.

Mkhabela told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he feels honoured to be appointed to the position and that this is good news for Sedibeng football to show that this region is well respected when it comes to football administrators.

Sedibeng, formerly known as Vaal Triangle, in the past produced great football administrators such as George Thabe and former SAFA President Dr Molefi Oliphant who were the most successful administrator to have come from this region. MKhabela said that he is up to the task and that he is looking forward to his role to oversee all the Super Sport United CAF Confederation Cup fixtures.

At one stage, Mkhabela’s leadership was under scrutiny after Safa Sedibeng SAB League was declared null and void last season. He was heavily criticized for lack of leadership but for all the wrong reasons. His appointment by SAFA as part of the SuperSport United delegation has made many eat humble pie, especially his critics.

“This appointment proves that as a region there is something that we do that encourages SAFA to appoint me to this role. For example, there is some interesting development that is taking place in our region.  I also want to thank Sedibeng Ster for always publishing our success as the region and not only negative news.”
